Same Clothes, Different Place: 3 Secrets to Finding the Best Fashion Deals

Hey guys! I was approached by Coupon Cravings to do a guest post about finding the best deals on your clothing, so of course I was like, "YEAH"! Kate Sorenson is the savvy lady behind the site, and her and her team scavenge the internet to find the best deals and leave them in one place--all for you! Read on to see what tips Kate has to share with us!

Everyone wants the best deal they can find for the fashion items they desire. But where should you shop and how can you get even greater discounts on your next purchase? Savings directories on Macy’s like this one will provide tips and help you score even deeper discounts, while still finding the fashion you want.
1. Head to the Outlets. Outlet stores offer one of the best ways to find clothing at great prices. Items tend to be less expensive at these stores for a variety of reasons. Popular styles from previous years are often re-issued to outlets at discount prices, and occasionally clothes that are shipped late miss their time window at retail stores and are moved immediately to the outlets.

Here are tips for making the most out of your outlet experience.
//Wear comfortable shoes. The building complexes that house outlet stores tend to be large, so be prepared a day of walking.
//Look for “factory seconds” and “irregulars”. These clothes are significantly discounted and often have only very minor flaws that prevent them from passing inspection (a hanging thread, or a mislabeled tag).
//Know the return policy. Outlets may have different return policies than their retail counterpart. Learning your merchant’s return and exchange policy to avoid being stuck with an unwanted purchase.
//Plan on lunch. If you are planning on a day of shopping, then be sure to grab a lunch at the outlet mall. Most outlet complexes have a variety of dining options – from gourmet sandwich and espresso shops to your standard fast food. Eating lunch will keep your spirits high and give you the energy to find the best deals.

2. Find the Discount Racks. As a general rule of thumb, start your shopping at the back and periphery of a store. Most discount racks can be found in the back of a store, and the outer edges of outlet complexes tend to have the best deals. Another good way to find deals is to park near the edge of an outlet complex, and work your way in. Storeowners know consumers tend to see the central entrance and head there first, so the pricier items are often placed here.
Also, don’t be turned off by discount racks. These items are not in any sense worse quality. Many of the discounted items were recently on display only weeks ago, and some of the best savings can be found here.
3. Shop Out of Season. Another way to save is to look for clothes in their off-season. Outlet stores often make further discounts for off-season items. With a little planning ahead, you can score a great deal on next year’s bathing suit or winter coat.
Great fashion deals are right around the corner! Check out your local outlet store, head for the discount racks, and look for some quality off-season clothes!

Mkay, Retro en Chic looks like my kind of place. Great tips and I'm always down for shopping that includes food. I like eating.

Seriously great deal tips! I pretty much do them all. Except I don't always wear terribly comfortable shoes. :) It's okay though. By the way, the store(s) in these pictures definitely looks like a place I'd love. So many pretty pieces!

This is such a great post! I love shopping at the outlets, though I've never bothered to learn their return policies! That is definitely something I should do in the future.
